Description
SUMMARY: Assist with overall management of Catawbas evaporators recovery boilers power boilers turbine generators bark system and waste/water treatment plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily operation of portions of Catawbas Power & Utility processes with an emphasis on safety reliability cost quality and environmental compliance.
- Provide leadership and direction necessary to achieve departmental safety goals.
- Coordinate maintenance activities for assigned Power & Utility areas with his or her Maintenance counterpart.
- Work with Pulp & Utility area Line Managers Assistant Superintendents and hourly Team Leaders to meet product quality and production requirements.
- Implement short and long-term strategies designed to improve safety performance increase operating efficiency and reduce cost.
- Continue to drive a culture change towards self-directed work teams.
- Develop and manage area operating budgets.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with management of unionized hourly employees in Powerhouse line of progression.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year engineering degree or equivalent operational experience in a Power & Utility environment.
- Good understanding of the operation of an integrated pulp & paper mill.
- Excellent leadership ability including strong problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Ability to train and mentor direct reports.
- Outstanding communication skills includes ability to recognize contributions make effective presentations and can quickly build trust and respect.
- Demonstrated ability to balance priorities to meet short and long-term goals.
- Functional use of various office productivity products and enterprise planning systems.
- Possesses an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to high precarious places fumes or airborne particles; vibrations.
