Reports to: Director of Career and Technical Education
General Purpose
Assist students to be successful in CTE by monitoring their technical basic skills and placement records. Coordinate program marketing eorts and program evaluation. Coordinate dual credit agreements and monitor state performance standards. Be a resource to all area counselors in their eorts to provide career counseling to their students. Assist students and teachers in their endeavors to be successful. Assist the Director of CTE in the management of successful programs.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the CTE Director provide leadership to the Career Center and its CTE programs including but not limited to
- providing and/or facilitating training of staff regarding effective learning practices that lead to high student achievement and attainment
- overseeing and managing office workflow including standard operating procedures practices and routines such as but not limited to: sending school student attendance students success or concerns maintaining a record of industry certifications/licenses earned by students
- supervise career center programs and evaluation of assigned staff using the MCAS teacher evaluation process
- hiring needed personnel
- maintaining social media pages
- updating handbooks with policies regulations standards and procedures for Career Center students and staff
- coordination and completion of the CLNA
- coordination and development of dual credit agreements
- Coordinate and communicate with sending schools concerning:
- Dissemination of information concerning all CTE course choices scheduling presentations concerning CTE and Career Center options with student and community groups
- collaborating with guidance counselors on any Career Center course scheduling
- developing maintaining and distributing career planning material for use by teachers and other counselors
- assist with career guidance
- coordinating all tours of the Career Center ex. Student recruitment community members sending school personnel etc.
- the distribution of information from the Career Center so students are aware of CTE program offerings and enrollment procedures
- assisting and providing information for students and teachers on colleges trades schools armed services and other career opportunities.
- Communicating with sending schools their Perkins Indicators and reaching their schools PDR goals
- Supervise and maintain timelines for all InTERS reports
- Manage the Technical Honors Diploma data collection and verification process.
- Monitor teacher curricula and administer student competency certificates.
- Be responsible for all county CTE programs meeting all state-mandated performance standards.
- Supervise the program improvement projects and ensure the continued certification of all CTE programs.
- Oversee the maintenance of all CTE programs (ex. Cosmetology earned hours toward student licensure work-based learning student hours etc).
- Maintain the inventory of equipment purchased with Perkins Grant monies.
- Provide necessary data to the Director for 30A reports and for spring pre-enrollment numbers.
- Stay current with CTE legislation state requirements and mandates.
- Oversee the application to the state for any new CTE programs.
- Manage student recognition and award activities (to include the Technical Honor Society).
- Participate in community activities that promote the activities of the area career and technical education center.
- Assist in coordinating all career and technical education activities.
- Assist in the preparation and collection of follow-up and quality assurance surveys.
- Be responsible for revisiting/developing handbooks with policies regulations standards and procedures for CTE students.
- Manage outlying school calendars and the grade reporting and credit posting for all students.
- Coordinate work-based learning programs and monitor training agreements.
- Provide other services to students and staff as directed by the Director of Career and Technical Education.
Education and Experience
- Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Possession of current valid Indiana license as it applies to this positionvalid Indiana CTE Directors License
- Have outstanding communication skills and be able to make dynamic community presentations.
- Be able to work with school counselors and other school administrators.
- Have administrative and organizational abilities.
- Have strong computer skills.
