Job Summary

Position Summary: The Grants Specialist will craft compelling proposals letters of inquiry and reports to funders that utilize both data and storytelling to describe Selfhelps impact. This individual will develop and sustain relationships with new and ongoing funders. The role requires both creativity and precision in presenting Selfhelps work to funders with equal attention to narrative data and budgets.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop and write compelling proposals budgets and reports for city state federal institutional foundation and corporate funders.
  • Collaborate with program directors senior leadership and finance staff to translate program details and data into compelling cases for support.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities.
  • Meet with program officers and potential funders to introduce Selfhelp and explore partnership opportunities
  • Write cover letters and acknowledgements and other routine correspondence.
  • Attend and report on bidders conferences and other sessions of interest to the organization.
  • Utilize grants database (Bloomerang) to track deadlines submissions and funder relationships.
  • Adhere to organizations standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including but not limited to Sexual Harassment Prevention Training IT Security Awareness Compliance OSHA HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organizations mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organizations policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

Salary Range: $75000-$80000/year commensurate with experience

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years grant writing experience with demonstrated success securing foundation and government funding.
  • Proactive and motivated self-starter with concern for accurate and timely submissions.
  • Strong project management skills for all aspects of grants process with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Skill in translating data and program details into persuasive stories that highlight the human impact of Selfhelps work.
  • Excellent written verbal and graphic skills.
  • Comfort engaging with program officers and funders on behalf of the organization.

Working Conditions/Physical Demand:

  • Standard office environment with phone and computer use.
  • Hybrid schedule after initial in-office training period subject to department needs.
  • This position is hybrid following an initial in-office training period with schedule determined by departmental needs.
