Job Summary:
The Dietary Coordinator shall be responsible for managing all kitchen personnel and working in cooperation with the Administrator nursing staff and Dietitian to ensure that residents receive nourishing meals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of department
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with company policy
- Assumes the administrative authority responsibility and accountability of directing the Dietary department
- Determines departmental staffing requirements needed to meet the departments needs
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans develops and implements food service for residents within the budget and according to current nutritional principles to maintain and improve the nutritional status of each resident
- Delegates duties and responsibilities/assignments to competent individuals
- In collaboration with the Registered Dietitian plans a regular and modified menu according to established pattern
- Meets with Dietitian to review therapeutic diets
- Assists with food preparation and operating food production equipment as required to complete tasks
- Prepares and maintains inventory list of foods and other dietary supplies for needed food/supply ordering purposes
- Monitors and controls expenses within budget
- Follows all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food services
- Completes new resident interviews and documents nutritional stat as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of food preparation standards and practices as well as basic nutrition
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of dietary services experience
- Minimum 3 years of dietary supervision experience
