Office of Assessment Accountability and Analytics

Job Focus Area
The Mathematics Assessment Coordinator housed within the Assessment division of the Office of Assessments Accountability and Analytics is responsible for the development of mathematics assessments for the LEAP 2025 state assessment system in alignment with the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics (LSSM) as required by federal policy Louisiana law and BESE policy. This position plays a key role in designing and implementing programs that advance statewide assessments support the integration of the LSSM and Mathematical Practices and promote instructional best practices in mathematics. The coordinator provides critical support to local education authorities school system supervisors administrators specialists and teachers while contributing to the continued expansion of the statewide summative assessment system. Candidates should have teaching experience possess in-depth knowledge of the LSSM and Mathematical Practicesparticularly for grades 38 Algebra I and Geometryand demonstrate expertise in mathematics instruction and assessment with the expectation of showcasing their understanding of these areas during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus four years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Leading team meetings and reviewing the work/performance of peers.
  • Setting program goals and objectives and developing plans for implementation.
  • Communicating the needs of Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to the Assessment Director and Assistant Superintendent.
  • Providing regular updates to the Assessment Director and Assistant Superintendent on services programs and current issues.
  • Collaborating with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) staff to stay current on state and federal programs.
  • Advising school system superintendents educators and external stakeholders on policies procedures laws and regulations.
  • Assisting in the resolution of program-related problems for schools and school systems.
  • Researching and developing new solutions and enhancing content based on trends research findings and legislative changes.
  • Serving as a school system partner to build the capacity of school and district teams.
  • Designing and implementing evaluation methods to measure program quality and student impact.
  • Planning and conducting professional development workshops and conferences for educators higher education institutions and community groups.
  • Meeting with stakeholders from schools colleges technical institutions and outside organizations to coordinate efforts.
  • Preparing reports presentations and communication materials for regional and state stakeholders.
  • Traveling to schools or districts to provide on-site consultation and technical assistance.


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:Probational Promotional or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule:Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
