Annual Salary Range (Teacher First Compensation Model):
- Professional: $60000
- Advanced: $70000
- Exemplary: $80000
- (Salary band determined through Kairos Teacher First Compensation performance framework.)
- plus $3000 signing bonus
Position Summary The Middle & High School Music Teacher at Kairos Academies is a mission-driven educator who cultivates students creativity discipline and collaboration through music education and performance. This role combines musical expertise with Kairos coaching-based instructional approachempowering students to build confidence teamwork and self-expression while connecting music to culture history and personal growth. Teachers are expected to coach collaborate and reflect to ensure students achieve measurable artistic and personal growth. Core Responsibilities Instructional Excellence - Design and implement engaging standards-aligned units in general music instrumental music or choir across middle and high school grades.
- Develop student skills in music literacy performance and appreciation through a blend of traditional contemporary and culturally responsive repertoire.
- Lead and conduct student ensembles (e.g. band choir or music club) preparing students for performances showcases and community events.
- Integrate technology composition and digital tools to enhance creativity and engagement.
- Assess student growth through performance assessments projects and reflective portfolios.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and foster inclusion in the classroom.
Student Relationships & Mentorship - Serve as a Kairos Coach mentoring a pod of students weekly to support goal-setting executive functioning and self-management skills.
- Build strong positive relationships with students that promote belonging discipline and artistic confidence.
- Communicate proactively with families about student progress upcoming performances and celebrations.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Collaborate with arts humanities and elective team members to align curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) coaching cycles and feedback sessions aligned with Kairos instructional model.
- Contribute to the broader school culture through performances showcases and events that celebrate creativity and student talent.
- Serve in a whole-school service role (e.g. Performance Lead Culture Lead or SEL Lead) that supports schoolwide academic and cultural goals.
- Support restorative practices positive behavior systems and SEL frameworks to build a strong and inclusive school community.
- Contribute to schoolwide assemblies family engagement events and community partnerships that elevate arts education.

- Student Performance & Participation: 75% of students engage in at least one music performance or showcase annually.
- Student Growth: 70% of students demonstrate progress in music literacy performance or creative expression (as measured by rubrics and portfolios).
- Mentoring Participation: 75% of students meet coaching engagement and reflection benchmarks.
- Culture & Engagement: 85% of students report feeling known supported and inspired in arts-based programming.
Key Indicators of Success
- Evidence of rigorous joyful and student-centered instruction aligned to Missouri Learning Standards for Fine Arts.
- Growth in student performance confidence and creative collaboration across grade levels.
- Consistent use of data rubrics and feedback to inform instruction and individual growth.
- Classroom and performance culture characterized by excellence inclusion and student ownership.
- Active contribution to arts integration and culture-building within the Kairos community.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors degree in Music Education or related field.
- Valid Missouri Substitute Certification.
- Demonstrated success teaching or directing music ensembles choirs or general music classes.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Missouri Teaching Certificate (K12 Music) or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
- Masters degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Proficiency with music technology composition software and digital performance tools.
- Experience building or leading a middle or high school music program.
Work Schedule & Environment
- MondayFriday 7:45 AM 4:00 PM.
- Occasional evenings or weekends for performances family engagement or school events.
- Dynamic fast-paced environment requiring adaptability creativity and collaboration.
