Job Description
Our client a rapidly growing organization with employees across Canada and the US is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team near the Fredericton NB area. This is a 12-Month contract position.
As the successful candidate you will play a key role in ensuring accurate timely and compliant payroll processing while supporting employees management and external agencies in a fast-paced and engaged environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Process accurate and timely Canadian and US payrolls with focus on Quebec requirements
- Collect analyze and verify payroll data ensuring integrity throughout the payroll cycle
- Review timesheets validate hours and calculate special payments in compliance with legislation
- Administer payroll documentation recordkeeping and employee file maintenance
- Support payroll audits reporting and year-end procedures (T4s T4As W2s Relevé 1s etc.)
- Resolve payroll issues and process adjustments as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and service
- Provide excellent internal customer service to employees and management
- Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- College diploma in Accounting Business or equivalent work experience
- 2 years of experience in a high-volume payroll environment
- Professional payroll certification (PCP) or demonstrated payroll expertise
- Experience with full-cycle payroll including complex tax calculations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong computer/system proficiency
- Experience with ADP or Jonas is an asset
