JMUs School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) fosters learning across lifespans through transformative education and enrichment. SPCE offers a range of programs including youth camps adult degree completion professional and workforce development and lifelong learning as well as partners with academic units across JMU to support a number of online or off-campus degree and certificate programs. This part-time role supports both the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) and Youth Programs within SPCE. The ideal candidate will assist with a variety of programmatic logistical and administrative tasks to ensure the success of events courses and activities across both programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

LLI serves older adults ages 55 with courses trips lectures and social events that encourage seniors to continue learning expanding their horizons and building relationships. Youth Programs offers a variety of camps events and activities for K-12 students to help them explore interests connect with others and share experiences on a college campus. This part-time role supports both areas; LLI primarily operates during the fall and spring and the majority of Youth Programs events happen over the summer but there will be overlap throughout the year as needed.

Duties for the Lifelong Learning Institute:
Classroom Liaison:
Serve as Classroom Liaison including sending reminder emails and providing in-class support to LLI instructors and students. This includes making photocopies providing tech support and making classroom announcements. Send class evaluations at the end of each class and share results with LLI instructors.

Communication and Marketing Support:
In collaboration with SPCE Marketing Team and LLI Director keep the LLI website up to date and accurate send the LLI weekly newsletter and assist with editing the biannual LLI catalog.

Duties for Youth Programs
Program Logistics:
Assist with program-related logistics including processing facility reservations placing catering orders requesting transportation for off-campus field trips processing photography requests creating name tags for participants printing rosters gathering supply lists from instructors purchasing supplies assisting with finding program instructors/counselors performing reference checks for program staff and sending out post-program evaluations to parents/students/staff.

Onsite Program Management:
Assist with onsite program activities including student/parent check-in and check-out managing event flow delivering materials to classrooms and addressing participant/instructor needs. Some weekend work is required for events that happen on Saturdays or Sundays (approximately 5 weekends per year).

Other duties as assigned by either the Director of Youth Programs or the Director of the Lifelong Learning Institute.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Experience using marketing and communications tools (such as MarketingCloud Canva Cascade)
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Customer service experience especially with a variety of populations including youth parents and seniors

Conditions of Employment:

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
