Job Summary:
The Landfill Spotter plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of landfill sites. This position is responsible for directing traffic guiding trucks to proper dumping areas inspecting loads for prohibited materials and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct inbound trucks to appropriate unloading areas within the landfill.
Inspect loads for prohibited hazardous or non-conforming waste materials and report any violations.
Communicate clearly with truck drivers to ensure safe and efficient offloading procedures.
Maintain a safe work environment by monitoring the tipping area and keeping it clear of obstructions.
Coordinate with heavy equipment operators to manage traffic flow and site conditions.
Record and report incoming loads especially any issues or violations.
Ensure compliance with local state and federal waste disposal regulations.
Use two-way radios or hand signals to guide vehicles and communicate with team members.
Assist with basic site maintenance duties as assigned (e.g. litter control signage).
Report unsafe conditions accidents or incidents to the supervisor promptly.
