About the role

Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual family and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.

Our main services are in Wellington Dubbo Western Sydney Penrith Nepean and Blue Mountains and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.

We are seeking a Trainee Administration/Receptionist to join our SEWB Team in Wellington.

The Trainee Administration/Reception Officer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the daily running of services for the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team (SWEB).

The Traineeship will include key tasks such as

Maintain the privacy and dignity of clients at all times

Welcome clients/ visitors and notify staff of clients arrival

Assist with the following administrative duties as required:

  • Communication i.e. phone fax email inbound and outbound mail
  • Process new referrals
  • Create client files and records
  • Coordinate reminder calls
  • Filing

Ensure reception area is professionally maintained brochures & flyers up to date and presented in accordance with marketing program

Record and distribute minutes of weekly team meetings

Sort and scan invoices to Finance for payment

Perform other work as required or assigned by the Team Leader

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of respect for and compliance with culturally appropriate ways of working with Aboriginal individuals families and communities

Selection Criteria

Aboriginality

Willingness to complete Certificate III in Business Administration

Intermediate computer skills preferably Microsoft applications

Ability to work within a team

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Respect for individual rights and self-determination

Knowledge and understanding of issues that impact Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities

Mandatory compliance requirements of the position:

1. Drivers License

2. National Criminal Record Check

3. Working With Children Check

4. Evidence of COVID vaccination
