Step into the role ofCompliance and Quality Manager here at Joules Head Office!

The Compliance & Quality Manager is responsible for establishing the strategy and key performance indicators pertaining to compliance Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and relevant legislation. This role entails leading the Garment Technical Team to optimise process outputs thereby ensuring the production of high-quality garments that meet customer requirements including aspects of garment grading fit and overall performance.

What to expect on a day to day basis:

Compliance & Legislation

  • Work closely with NEXT to set Joules compliance and legislation KPIs and oversee the implementation of relevant legislation across all selling channels/markets including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) packaging waste textile/yarn traceability and other product-specific regulations.
  • Manage product compliance documentation including technical files declarations of conformity and labelling requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with country specific laws (e.g. flammability labeling PFAS green claims) to ensure the avoidance of product recalls fines or legal challenges.
  • Packaging regulation compliance: Global DPR frameworks (France Germany UK)

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) & Sustainability

  • Develop and manage EPR reporting processes across all applicable categories.
  • Ensure the business meets its sustainability reporting and fee payment obligations.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact through sustainable sourcing eco-design and packaging optimization.

Quality Management

  • Oversee product testing certification and quality assurance processes for all sourced goods.
  • Investigate quality issues implement corrective actions and track supplier performance. Feed data into the Seasonal supplier scorecarding.

Supplier Management

  • Work with the Buying & COP team to ensure suppliers meet compliance quality and ethical trade requirements.
  • Provide training to suppliers on legislative requirements and quality expectations.

Garment Fit and Quality

  • Leading the Technical team to drive best process and outputs from a garment grading fit and performance perspective. This role will need to interrogate our position in the market & establish opportunities to drive improved quality & fit for our customer.
  • Audit/analyse customer returns investigate and drive continuous improvement with the supply base and Factories.
  • Offshore travel to factories on an ongoing basis for continuous improvement maintain relationships and identify new methods processes etc.
  • Manage the fabric team to ensure buyers and designers are supported with fabric innovation costing and procurement ensuring all fabric risk assessment and testing is diligently conducted in line with key critical path dates.

About You:

From a technical and operational perspective it would also be advantageous if you:

  • In-depth knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations (UK and EU) and other relevant retail legislation.
  • Strong understanding of product compliance quality assurance and testing processes.
  • Experience working in a retail sourcing or manufacturing environment with global supply chains.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Confident communicator with experience engaging suppliers regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Understanding of environmental reporting frameworks and sustainability best practices.
  • Experience with ERP or compliance management systems.
  • The ability to speak additional languages for supplier communication would be desirable but not essential.

Where will you be working

This is a full time role based at The Barn - Joules purpose built Head Office in Market Harborough Leicestershire. This role is office based working onsite as we believe this is where we make the best decisions together.
