Job Title: Instructional Support Staff
Job Brief:
- Instructional support staff are a vital part of the day-to-day operations which contribute to the accomplishment of our USD383 Mission Vision and Core Beliefs. ESOL Aides are critical members of school teams as they work to meet the needs of students learning and acquiring the English language. Aides will collaborate with supervising teachers and classroom teachers to deliver planned instruction accommodate assignments and support academic and language development for students. Consistent attendance and participation are needed and necessary for our system to support mentoring and collaboration with teachers as well as reinforce learning for students.
Location:
- Various school locations throughout Manhattan and Ogden.Grade level and location will be discussed in applicant call back.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Desire to work in a school setting assisting certified teachers to support the language and academic needs of students.
- Experience working with students in various classrooms and grade levels is favorable.
- Experience with culturally and linguistically diverse students is helpful.
- Bilingual applicants: verbal/written communication skills are desired.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.
Salary:
Hours Per Day:
- Times may vary depending on the building assignment.
- Part-time and full-time availability.
Term of Employment:
- Positions available during the regular school year.
- Options for summer employment.
- New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin and leave can be used.
Reports To: District ESOL Coordinator Building Principal and Building ESOL Teacher.
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
Job Duties:
- Works with individual or small groups of students at various times in the day to increase language proficiency in English.
- Aides individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the classroom teacher.
- Provides accommodation as stated in the students individual learning plan during lessons activities quizzes and exams.
- Supports classroom teachers through scaffolding and modifying lessons and activities as directed by the students individual learning plan.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.
- Follows a flexible schedule based on student need.
- Communicates and works well with various teachers and support staff within the school setting.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the ESOL teacher.
