Primary Purpose:
Planning organizing and supervising a central warehousing and distribution system. Duties involve receiving storing and issuing supplies equipment and materials. The Warehouseman may also be required to write specifications for supply items to be purchased by the Department.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Maintain a Texas drivers license and a clear driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Computer literate with demonstrated typing skills
- Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to exhibit physical competency in handling light lifting and other strenuous activities associated with this position
- Familiarity with Department policies and procedures
Experience:
- Three years experience in warehouse or stock clerical work
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Pack fill orders load and deliver a variety of warehouse items.
- Verify accuracy of warehouse items pulled.
- Maintain space for and store surplus and obsolete equipment textbooks and other items as directed.
- Move equipment furniture textbooks etc. from facility to facility as requested.
- Arrange for shipment via common carrier as requested.
- Maintain inventory of warehouse stock items and advise the Executive Director of Facilities when re-orders are necessary.
- Revise Department supply catalog as necessary.
- May be required to write specifications for supply items to be purchased.
- Maintain warehouse in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting weighing or measuring items and comparing size weight description and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
- Receive and inspect all materials ordered by schools and divisions on Department purchase orders and report status of those orders to the Business Services.
- Record serial numbers from and apply Department inventory tags to newly purchased equipment as it arrives at the warehouse.
- Assist Fixed Assets Clerk in maintaining accurate up-to-date property inventory list for Department.
- Protect the health and safety of self students and other employees by complying with safety policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
