Na Aksa Gyilakyoo School is seeking to fill a challenging but rewarding teaching position for Grades 789 (multi-grade classroom).
The focus for multi grade will be a math assignment teaching grade 7-9. The successful candidate will then have homeroom assignment for core courses to instruct grade 8 and 9.
Na Aksa Gyilakyoo School is certified and accredited by both the BC Ministry of Education and the First Nations School Association. Na Aksa Gyilakyoo education focuses on collaboration and co-planning to effectively differentiate in a project-based experiential learning program. The Tsimshian language (Smalgyax) is foundational throughout our instructional program and is strongly supported by the community and its leadership.
Key Requirements:
BC Teaching Certificate (TRB)
demonstrated experience in a British Columbia School
Current Criminal Record Check
Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
Experience Working in a First Nation school
Ability to use data to drive instruction
Flexibility with schedule
Working knowledge of Tsimshian Culture
Desire to work interdependently within a dynamic environment
Ability to work in a culturally responsive environment
Exceptional communication; both written and spoken English
