About The Adjutant Generals Office:

Role Overview:

You will be a working supervisor and will be responsible for the maintenance repair preventive maintenance renovations and physical plant operations of the building equipment and grounds of a large Army National Guard facility in Hamilton County known as the Atlanta Armory. You will determine priority of work schedules work and supervises assigned employees and contractor work.


Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Inspect monitor and maintain the building grounds and all physical plant systems including air conditioning heating systems electrical water air circulation systems elevators and lighting.
  • Consult on renovation and construction projects coordinating time and space needs.
  • Procure janitorial supplies and ensure proper storage of all chemicals and supplies.
  • Obtain quotes for construction projects materials and supplies and submit for approval.
  • Maintain an armory event calendar to coordinate armory usage between military rentals vacations construction projects repairs etc.
  • Responsible for all renter processes including scheduling rental contracts and billing.
  • Ensure the availability of all appropriate permits such as: Entertainment permit Loading Zone permit etc.
  • Ensure all the property meets all safety standards including fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) OSHA regulations on all hazardous substances and chemicals used in the workplace.
  • Recruit select onboard and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations measure progress provide ongoing feedback and evaluate the performance of work adheres to quality standards deadlines and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What Youll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • Extensive knowledge of the function operation troubleshooting and maintenance of sophisticated heating ventilating and air conditioning systems.
  • Ability to understand computerized and electronic control systems.
  • Working knowledge and ability to understand and interpret detailed plans specifications blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of standard practices methods procedures materials tools and equipment of the various skilled trades such as: electrical plumbing carpentry heating and air conditioning.
  • Working knowledge on how to inspect facilities equipment physical plant systems and grounds to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose repairs needed.
  • Ability to work independently to make long-range plans schedule preventative maintenance seasonal maintenance prioritize routine and emergency repairs.
  • Working knowledge of IOSHA standards Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) building codes and occupational hazards of the various trade areas.
  • Working knowledge of various electronic/computerized meters gauges and indicators to test and/or monitor the proper functioning of various physical plant systems.
  • Ability to communicate with agency personnel and stakeholders.
  • Ability to delegate work set clear direction and manage workflow.
  • Ability to effectively give feedback provide guidance or corrective action coach and develop employee skillsets.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
