- Minimum 10 years in nonprofit fundraising or revenue-generating development. Preferred experience includes radio and Christian ministry leadership.
- Proven success in fundraising and securing major gifts.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in overseeing successful Capital Campaigns.
- Passion for Christian ministry and servant leadership.
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with project management and analytical abilities.
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and knowledge of scripture.
- Able to handle appropriate items and tasks with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Responsibilities/Day-to-Day
The Chief Development Officer is responsible for guiding and overseeing all fundraising. The position oversees the Donor Services and Philanthropy Directors and their departments.
Rooted in Christian values this role focuses on building a culture of generosity strengthening donor relationships and securing resources to support long-term ministry impact. The CDO combines strategic vision with hands-on execution to align development efforts with the organizations mission and goals.
Strategic Leadership
- Design and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Pillar Media including but not limited to: on-air campaigns major gifts planned giving capital campaigns grants partnerships and all digital/social media giving.
- Set and monitor fundraising goals metrics and budgets.
- Collaborate with leadership and fundraising professionals to align strategies.
Philanthropy & Donor Engagement
- Lead collaborate and mentor the Philanthropy & Donor Services Directors and their teams.
- Work closely with all Pillar Media teams to align efforts while equipping staff and volunteers to support fundraising.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors foundations corporations and churches.
- Communicate the ministrys vision to inspire generosity.
- Oversee strategies for mid-level and major donors legacy giving donor events and capital campaigns.
- Explore and implement non-traditional revenue streams including monetizing digital platforms.
Representation & Advocacy
- Represent the organization at events and within the Christian community.
- Build partnerships with churches ministries and community leaders.
Operations
- Manage the development budget and financial reporting; plus all donor communication engagement and database management.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting and sponsorship guidelines.
- Participate in executive leadership meetings L10s retreats staff meetings and when possible community events.
- This role requires regular travel.
