Role Overview
Our Compliance team is the guardian of trust for Rocket Now in Japan. We ensure that every aspect of our operations meets the highest legal regulatory and ethical standardswhile enabling the business to move fast and innovate. As Director of Compliance you will lead this mission by building a robust compliance framework managing risk proactively and partnering with business leaders to create a safe transparent and customer-first environment.
You will design and execute a comprehensive compliance strategy covering Privacy Food Safety Environment Health & Safety (EHS) HR Compliance and Anti-Corruption while aligning local programs with global policies and HQ direction. You will embed compliance into the companys culture ensuring that policies are practical effective and well understood by employees merchants and riders.
What You Will Do
- Compliance Strategy & Governance: Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy for Rocket Now Japan covering areas such as Privacy Food Safety Environment Health & Safety (EHS) HR Compliance and Anti-Corruption. Stay current on relevant laws regulations and industry best practices; ensure processes and controls meet all legal and regulatory requirements. Align local compliance programs with global policies and HQ direction.
- Risk Management & Controls: Identify and document all applicable compliance requirements; design programs to mitigate potential risks. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Establish monitoring mechanisms for HR and labor law compliance.
- Policy & Program Management: Review update and enforce compliance policies procedures and controls. Ensure employees merchants riders and other stakeholders understand and adhere to these policies. Lead and manage a team of compliance specialists fostering a culture of integrity and ethics.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and execute annual training plans on compliance topics (Privacy EHS Food Safety etc.). Educate internal teams merchants and riders on compliance requirements and best practices.
- Audits & Investigations: Design and implement an audit strategy; conduct regular audits across departments and facilities. Track and remediate non-compliance issues promptly. Partner with the investigations team to address speak-up concerns.
- Specialized Compliance Areas: Implement and oversee programs in Privacy EHS Food Safety Anti-Corruption/AML/Sanctions and Trust & Safety. Develop anti-fraud and counterfeit detection strategies; enhance marketplace safety measures.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Legal Operations Customer Support and HQ Compliance teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of compliance initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Compliance Forensic Statutory/Internal Audits Investigations or Risk Management
- Proven track record of successfully leading compliance functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in e-commerce logistics or food delivery operations
- Familiarity with Japanese regulatory requirements in Privacy EHS and Food Safety
- Experience working in a global or matrixed organization
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and compliance best practices
