Job Summary

Reports to: Food Service DirectorSupervises: All areas and personnel of food preparation and Goal: To serve the students appealing nutritious meals which follow the Health Kids Act guidelines in an atmosphere of efficiency cleanliness and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal courteously with students and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow co-workers and staff.
  • Assists in purchasing and maintaining an inventory of all foods supplies and equipment.
  • Standardizes cafeteria accounting procedures in cooperation with the district controllers office.
  • Check food shipments into the school signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
  • Store delivered food and supply items appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Report any substandard quality food received to Food Services Director.
  • Read menu and plan work to accomplish food preparation for the week.
  • Maintain daily production records in regard to amount of food prepared served and left over.
  • Prepare menu items according to recipes and serves food in an attractive manner.
  • Help determine the quantities of food to be prepared and quantity served daily to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served as well as practice appropriate and consistent portion control measures.
  • Assist with monitoring efforts to assure tray accuracy food quantities and food supplies (inventory) are adequate to meet daily needs by rep01ting discrepancies to Food Service Director or designee in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures for hot and cold items.
  • Assist in setting up serving line replenishing and serving/working on line.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen as directed by the Food Service Director and in a manner consistent with health department standards.
  • Practice safe proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Supervise daily cleaning of food service area all kitchen equipment washing and sterilizing of all dishes silverware and utensils for use/non-use of the facility.
  • Maintain the refuse collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
  • Check that high standards of health and safety are maintained and observe possible improvements in operations.
  • Accept and count money for foods and beverages sold; record transactions; maintain accountability of sales.
  • Operate computerized lunch cashier system and student lunch sales software program.
  • Train new and existing kitchen staff as assigned.
  • Participate and contribute to Nutrition/staff and meetings.
  • Work effectively under the pressures of multi-tasking deadlines shortage of workers and answering to multiple supervisors.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students staff parents and other community members.
  • Report immediately to the Director of Food Service or the building principal any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or lunch premises.
  • Confer with the Food Services Director regarding any personnel problems.
  • Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job.
  • Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
  • Adhere to applicable state and federal laws rules and regulations board policies and administrative rules.
  • Perform other related work as of Employment: Regular school year.   • Ability to stand and walk on hard flooring for prolonged periods of time and handle materials by lifting pushing bending or stretching.
  • Physical agility to push pull bend stoop kneel walk climb a ladder and reach overhead.
  • Ability to work with and or around chemical cleaning agents.
