Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Tower Hamlets to assist with the appointment of a Youth Support Worker on a 3-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Youth Support Workers to deliver high-quality youth work sessions as part of the Young Tower Hamlets universal safe spaces programme. This borough-wide initiative provides accessible safe spaces for young people aged 1119 (and up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) offering positive activities personal development opportunities and access to skilled youth workers.

The role directly supports the boroughs strategy to reduce violence vulnerability and exploitation by ensuring young people have safe engaging and supportive environments to thrive.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive youth work sessions within safe space venues across Tower Hamlets.
  • Support the development of positive activities that promote learning resilience wellbeing and social inclusion.
  • Build trusting relationships with young people to encourage participation and personal development.
  • Safeguard young people by recognising risks vulnerabilities and exploitation and take appropriate action in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Contribute to the planning and continuous improvement of youth programmes in collaboration with colleagues and community partners.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a youth work community or educational setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges and risks facing young people including safeguarding exploitation and vulnerability.
  • Ability to plan deliver and evaluate youth work sessions and activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse groups of young people.
  • Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
