10 - Month Tenure Track Position
COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $67886 to $106308 based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142425. A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical dental and vision insurance for the employee and dependents and a $50000 employee life insurance policy are provided. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teach a variety of courses in U.S. and World History. Additional instruction could include but not be limited to courses in African American History Womens History Latin American History Native American History and California History.
Implement current theories and methods of teaching including Distance Education Instruction.
Collaborate with colleagues in program review and curriculum development and participate in other departmental functions.
Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned both on campus and in other modalities including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities.
Participate in professional development activities.
Serve on area and college-wide committees as necessary to support and enrich the instructional program.
Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
Provide critical and timely feedback on all assignments.
Comply with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties.
Participate in assessment evaluation and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Office classroom lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day weekend and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
Masters in history ORBachelors in history ANDMasters in political science humanities geography area studies womens studies social science or ethnic studiesORthe equivalent.
Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
