Do you thrive at the intersection of materials science device engineering and quantum innovation that could disruptively change our information society We are seeking a new colleague to drive research in spintronic devices bridging fundamental physics and real-world applications. Collaborate with leading institutes and industry partners in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment.
The position
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Assistant or Associate Professor to strengthen our research in spintronic devices. You will join the Physics of Nanostructures (FNA) group embedded in the Materials and Quantum domains of the department of Applied Physics and Science Education (APSE) and contribute to the development of spin-based devices for non-conventional computing memory and sensing.
Recent research has focused on the exploration of non-conventional solutions such as current-induced domain-wall motion chiral spin textures propagating spin waves and magnetization manipulation by fs light pulses. New directions encompass on-chip spintronic-photonic integration designer magnetic nanoparticles and pushing the limits of spintronic sensors.
The research is rooted in well-equipped laboratories including the NanoAccess facility for UHV thin film deposition & in-situ nano-characterization the /e cleanroom and a suite of ex-situ analysis tools. As a research group we work across-campus within the Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Institute (EHCI) and the Brainport eco-system. The group participates in many (inter)national research consortia and has an extensive network with academic and industrial partners world-wide.
As an Assistant or Associate Professor you will establish a research line in spintronic device fabrication and development with potential links to photonics quantum information and 2D materials. Your activities will form a bridge from device to circuit implementation with engineering departments (such as with prof. Todri-Sanial EE) high-tech research institutes (such as IMEC) and industrial partners within or outside the Brainport area. You will play a central role in these collaborations while bringing in and further developing your own network. You are committed to leading local and (inter)national projects and programs and successful in acquiring funding for those. You will contribute to the APSE mission of connected excellent and ambitious research aligned with national priorities like the European Chips Act and the Beethoven program.
You will be active in teaching the engineers of the future both at bachelor and master level within APSE and possibly beyond. At FNA we share a passion for teaching. You will integrate this enthusiastic team and have ample opportunities to contribute expand or propose content for the curriculum at both bachelor and master level.
Finally as a principal investigator (PI) you will build up a research group that fits well to the social and welcoming atmosphere of FNA. You share our commitment to mentoring a diverse and inclusive team of PhD students and postdocs working at the cutting edge of science and technology
