Project Overview:

We are supporting a global mobility clients finance function through the secondment of an interim finance manager to stabilize operations at a recently acquired Japanese subsidiary. The acquired entity has no internal finance team limited reporting routines and relies entirely on a local outsourced accounting firm. The interim manager will serve as a bridge between global HQ and local operations ensuring financial visibility validating reporting and supporting the onboarding of a new Finance Director.

Your involvement in the project will be carried out as an independent subcontractor.

Work location: Within 23 wards of Tokyo

Contract type: Service entrust contract (業務委託)

Salary: 6000 to 9000 yen/hour

Scope of Services:

Project-based Contract.

  • Financial Visibility & Review

    • Validate journal entries and monthly closings prepared by the outsourced accounting firm
    • Provide clear financial interpretation and reporting to the global CFO and HQ teams
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Liaise with local legacy staff outsourced providers and global finance teams
    • Support onboarding of the new Finance Director and act as a transitional partner
  • Process Stabilization

    • Establish basic routines for AP AR and monthly close
    • Document and implement foundational internal controls and reporting processes
  • Oversight & Governance

    • Act as a control point for outsourced accounting
    • Ensure compliance with JGAAP and IFRS standards
  • Strategic Support

    • Advise on post-acquisition finance setup and transformation roadmap

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Strong general accounting experience familiarity of working with external accounting service providers
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous unstructured environments
  • Proficient in Excel; experience with basic accounting systems preferred
  • Familiarity with JGAAP and IFRS

Language Requirements:

  • Japanese: Native level.
  • English: Fluent level in reading writing and speaking.
