Facilities Management is hiring a Lead Custodian to to be a part of our Custodial Athletics team. This position performs routine cleaning in offices athletic spaces and public access areas. Tasks require some organizational skills and making decisions following prescribed procedures. Will assist with training assigning and inspecting work and holding team members accountable.

Duties:

  • Cleans sweeps and dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Collects and disposes of wastepaper and refuse.
  • Mops sweeps waxes and polishes floors.
  • Maintains and sanitizes lavatories and rest rooms. Restocks lavatories and rest room paper products.
  • Locks and unlocks offices classrooms and conference areas in order to clean. Contacts with others are of a routine nature.
  • Vacuums carpeted areas where applicable.
  • May shovel snow from doorways and sidewalks.
  • Completes administrative tasks such as data entry ordering supplies and email.
  • Performs various duties as needed in order to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

SPECIAL NOTE: This position is a 12-hour shift resulting in a rate of pay $0.50 higher than a regular custodial position. If hired on this 12-hour shift should applicant want to change off of the 12-hour shift to another custodial team their rate of pay would decrease by $0.50.

SCHEDULING: This schedule is a Panama schedule pattern: 2 days on 2 days off 3 days on 2 days off 2 days on 3 days off. This is a 28-day repeating pattern.

EXAMPLE

  • Week 1: OFF Monday/Tuesday WORKING Wednesday/Thursday OFF Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Week 2: WORKING: Monday/Tuesday OFF: Wednesday/Thursday WORKING: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Following weeks repeating 1 and 2

Required Education: None

Required Experience:6 months custodial or housekeeping experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Customer Service
  • Ability to safely and accurately use assorted chemicals and cleaning appliances
  • Knowledge of floor care and cleaning procedures
  • Basic computer skills

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Drivers License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date

Working Conditions:

  • Physical:Lifting and carrying loads up to 100 standing and use of arms in a back and forth stooping and to to disagreeable tasks or to hazardous stairs. Climbing ladders working at heights.
  • Environmental: May required overtime be designated as an essential position during emergency be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.

Supervision of Others:

  • Will serve as a lead for a small team. Which includes assisting with training assigning and inspecting work.
