Job Summary

Position: CNC Operator
Location: Troy AL
Type: Full-time On-site

Summary/Objective:

The CNC Operator will operate equipment according to established procedures in a safe and quality manner.

Dimensional measurements will be required during the operation of equipment to assure compliance to requirements.

Adjustments to the equipment will be executed during the operation of equipment to meet established run rates and part accuracy.

This involves performing First Piece Inspection and continuous Quality activities.

Equipment will include Mills Lathes CNCs and screw machines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Implement and sustain S Q D C I activities.
Develop sustain and improve CNC machine tool methods and procedures.
Assist tool selection in the development and implementation of fixtures for new product development.
Develop standard work tool setup sheets and standard operations for production jobs.
Troubleshoot various problems (improper tooling dull tools wrong location of machined feature code errors etc.) and develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
Perform Quality Assurance activities while operating equipment (Optical systems calipers gages indicators).
Participate in Productive Maintenance activity.

Interpret technical prints (GD&T)
Must have basic knowledge of CNC machine G-Code and troubleshooting skills
Experience maintaining and changing tools
Experience determining offsets and adjusting accordingly
Interpret Work Orders and enter data into the Manufacturing database (ERP)

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years of experience in machining or related mechanical field
Vocational/Technical Degree
Lean manufacturing experience
Kaizen event experience
5S knowledge and experience

Language Skills:

Ability to read write listen and follow instructions. Ability to read blueprints.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic shop math and precision measurement skills.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to adjust as needed by following SOPs

Travel Requirements:

Travel will normally be less than 5% (training equipment development satellite facility support).

Other Skills & Abilities:

Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular consistent reliable punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts overtime before and after shifts and on weekends. Ability to work as part of a team including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
