What you bring to SBHG:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of some college-level (or equivalent) coursework in sociology psychology mental illness and its treatment health care system counseling and/or peer counseling preferred.
- One (1) year of full-time or experience performing non-professional consumer directed services in a mental health health care counseling peer counseling education advocacy or other social services agency / organization serving people with disabilities.
- Valid California Drivers License
- Addiction Certification or pursuing Substance Use Certification Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) preferred.
How you will make a difference:
The Resource Specialist assists Clients in determining the need for community services and linkages including but not limited to substance use services. The Resource Specialist provides drug and alcohol education to dual diagnosed Clients and their families aimed at prevention and supporting wellness and recovery.
Division/Program Overview:
- The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) is voluntary and offered on a 24/7 basis in an unlocked setting with a stay of up to 23 hours
- Rapid mental health assessment and crisis intervention
- All age groups children adolescents adults and older adults who need immediate access to crisis mental health services.
- The center provides important services to those in need of immediate crisis intervention and stabilization
- Individuals admitted into the crisis stabilization unit will be provided with support and services to ensure their safe transition to the next level of care or back to the community.
