In the role of WIC Dietitian Nutritionist or Registered Nurse you will serve as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA) certifying WIC participants and providing nutrition education to non-high-risk is a fulltime 40 hours a week position. Muncie Location: The hours are Monday Wednesday and Thursday 8a to 5p Tuesday rotating every other week 8a to 5p and 10a to 7p and Friday 8a to 2 p. Mission Improve the Quality of Life of Others:
- Complete the ADP Application certification procedure and documentation including measurement of height weight and hemoglobin.
- Document assessments evaluations counseling and referrals on appropriate forms and the ADP Application.
- Schedule appointments using the ADP scheduler based on parameters and instructions from the coordinator.
- Make referrals as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the coordinator.
Vision- ODHS preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live:
- Evaluates clients nutritional status through dietary assessments and consults and makes recommendations in relation to nutritional needs family income cultural food patterns home facilities and modifications in diet.
- Create and tailor a WIC food prescription using the ADP application that is appropriate to the participants needs.
- Issue and explain food benefits and the issuance period.
- Provide educational programs for clients in the form of classes or demonstrations and maintains related plans files and records.
- Provide individual nutritional counseling to non-high-risk participants and other requiring individual follow up.
- Help with breastfeeding tasks as assigned/needed.

- Provide all pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition education opportunities that promote a support breastfeeding.
- Maintains documents (forms/letters) recommended by State WIC.

- Screen applicants for eligibility (identity residency and status) and document in ADP.
- Determine income eligibility using the ADP.
- Verify Medicaid using the Medicaid website.
- Assist participants with the completion of the WIC signature page and obtain participants signature on the epad.
- Issue EBT card WIC booklet and instruct to use.
- May perform off-site certifications and screenings of applicants for eligibility issue and explain food benefits.
- Participate in professional development opportunities in-service education and staff meetings.
- Attend conferences and meetings needed or required by the position and participates in committees as requested.
- May serve as spokesperson for the agency to the degree delegate by the coordinator.
- Be a preceptor for Dietitians students.
Education and Experience: - Qualified candidates would need a Bachelors or Masters degree which includes a degree major in at least one of the following areas:
- Dietetics
- Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences
- Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition
- Clinical Nutrition
- Nursing (Current Registered Nurse License)
- Other health related degrees with a minor in Nutrition or 9 to 12 credit hours in Nutrition courses
- Previous experience in a maternal and child health or public health setting preferred.
About you:
- Knowledge of community resources and referral agencies.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients staff and the public at large.
- Skill of interviewing and communicating to elicit information and cooperation from clients.
- Knowledge of group dynamics.
- Ability to work with computer software programs.
- Ability to interpret and communicate agency rules regulations and procedures.
- Ability to adapt to changing environment.
- Ability to be flexible and prioritize work effectively.
- Able to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Possess understanding of individuals socioeconomic status and lifestyle with respect for individual differences.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases toxic substance medicinal preparations and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.
- Requires standing walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Requires the ability to work under stressful situations.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment
