Department: Plant Services
Reports to: Facility Engineer Manager
FLSA Code: Non-Exempt/PRN - Variable hours
PRN - Can work various shifts holidays and weekends as needed.
Position Summary:
Is responsible for the security and surveillance of all equipment building and grounds. Assists employees visitors physicians and patients as required in a courteous manner.
Makes periodic rounds of the facility and grounds to ensure the security and safety of the employees patients and visitors.
Position Accountabilities:
- Conducts self in a professional manner.
- Consistently respects the confidential nature of all information concerning any aspects of the hospital and its patients.
- Investigates all security issues and complaints while on duty or assigned.
- Documents all activities that take place during work shift on security officer report.
- Understands operation of all hospital mechanical equipment.
- Orients new members of the security staff to the requirements of the job.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with all federal state and local safety & security codes.
- Performs all duties in a cost effective manner striving to avoid wasting hospital resources.
- Assists maintenance staff as required with snow removal and other maintenance tasks.
- Able to perform assigned tasks to assist with building checks; fire alarms police alarms water temps or as required
- Able to operate hospitals moving equipment and vehicles in accordance with the safety rules and driving laws set forth.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and patient safety assists in maintaining compliance with TJC.
- Must have a good understanding of Highland District Hospital policies and procedures that pertain to the security officer function.
