The Team
At the Office of the BC Container Trucking Commissioner youll be joining a small but impactful team of professionals who bring diverse skills and perspectives to their work. The Role
This role combines auditing and investigative responsibilities to help ensure fair and consistent practices in the container trucking industry. As part of our commitment to equity and accountability the successful candidate will respond to complaints identify violations and support enforcement actions that protect workers and uphold industry standards. With a mix of office-based and field work this position offers variety challenge and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through thoughtful analysis and inclusive decision-making.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline such as accounting finance or economics plus a minimum 2 years experience in compliance auditing; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in each of the following:
    • Managing a varied and complex workload with minimal supervision.
    • Drafting professional reports assessing evidence and conducting inquiries during an audit or investigation.
    • Managing multiple projects with variable deadlines and deliverables.
    • Applying analytical and research skills to gather and interpret information and reach defensible conclusions.
    • Identifying and resolving complex issues in both written and verbal formats.
  • Must have valid BC Class 5 drivers license or equivalent and reliable transportation (Note: A copy of the drivers abstract and proof of insurance will be required for successful candidates who pass the assessment process).

Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:

  • A professional accounting designation issued by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada or related professional regulatory authority.
  • Experience working in a public sector regulatory environment with a focus on interpreting and applying legislation and regulations in the context of compliance and enforcement activities.
  • Experience working or knowledge of the container trucking industry within the Lower Mainland an asset.

Proviso/Willingness Statement:

  • May be required to travel including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas within the Lower Mainland.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until February 27 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
