Description
The Associate Systems Engineer supports the implementation configuration and documentation of integrated hardware and software components within a system or larger system of systems such as rack-based solutions. Acting as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders the Associate Systems Engineer helps facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure projects meet requirements and are successfully transitioned to Manufacturing.
This position requires a Bachelors degree and reports to a manager. Work is collaborative in nature with contributions to a variety of projects under the guidance of more experienced engineers. This role is designed for candidates beginning their career and seeking to develop technical expertise in systems engineering.
Essential functions
- Hardware/System Support: Assist with hardware selection and qualification activities for new or updated products.
- Technical Interface: Support coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders including attending meetings and assisting with issue resolution.
- System Build: Participate in configuring assembling and documenting First Article (FA) units using customer documentation software images and test scripts.
- System Testing: Assist in developing and executing test plans to validate performance and functionality against customer requirements.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain records of integration activities including configuration details and test results.
- Branding Support: Help manage customer branding requirements such as logos decals and labels and assist with design approvals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales project management automation and quality teams to support integration activities.
- Troubleshooting: Assist in identifying and documenting issues during integration and work with senior engineers to resolve them.
- Process Improvement: Contribute ideas for improving integration processes and documentation.
- Deployment Support: Provide assistance during system deployment activities with field engineers and production teams.
- Learning and Development: Stay informed about new technologies hardware and industry practices relevant to system integration.
- Complies with all guidelines and procedures pertaining to the protection of the Companys Information Assets Security and Systems and that of its clients.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field.
- Foundational knowledge of computer hardware operating systems (Windows/Linux) and networking.
- Strong problem-solving skills and interest in hands-on system work.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand walk and use hands to manipulate objects tools or controls reach with hands and arms while taking and hearing
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance of others
- Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Preferred prior experience
- Familiarity with IT rack infrastructure (power cabling and networking)
- Exposure to virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware)
- Experience from internships co-ops or academic projects related to systems or IT
