Schedule:Exempt min 40 hours per week Flexible Schedule typically 5 days per week (with flexibility based on community needs).

What Youll Do in This Role:

As the Director of Nursing for Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation you will lead and oversee the nursing department ensuring the delivery of high-quality compassionate care to all residents. You will coordinate and supervise nursing operations develop and implement policies and procedures and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize resident outcomes. This role is essential in promoting a culture of excellence teamwork and continuous improvement within our community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

  • Provide strong leadership to the nursing team fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional growth.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to meet organizational goals and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Integrate Total Quality Management (TQM) into daily operations.
  • Partner with the Administrator on surveys conducted by government agencies.

Clinical Oversight:

  • Oversee assessment planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care for residents in skilled nursing and rehabilitation.
  • Monitor and evaluate quality of care implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain nursing service objectives policies procedures and job descriptions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create individualized care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to provide a comprehensive care regimen.

Staffing & Training:

  • Recruit hire and train nursing staff to ensure adequate coverage for resident needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations provide feedback and address performance issues promptly.
  • Facilitate ongoing education and training to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruitment retention and employee relations.
  • Delegate administrative authority to supervisory staff to ensure efficient operations.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Implement programs to monitor and improve nursing care and resident outcomes.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with state federal and industry standards.
  • Participate in risk management activities and implement strategies to mitigate care-related risks.
  • Collaborate with Quality & Education teams to develop update and implement nursing policies and procedures.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Serve as a liaison between nursing administration and other departments.
  • Communicate effectively with residents families and healthcare providers to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
  • Build collaborative relationships with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies accrediting bodies and community partners.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the State of Michigan.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience preferrable in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting.
  • CPR certification and other relevant certifications/licenses as required by state regulations.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in geriatric and rehabilitation nursing.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in nursing care.

What Youll Need:

Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience preferably in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in nursing care.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a Director of Nursing (DON) in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting.
  • Additional leadership or advanced certifications in nursing administration or geriatrics.
