About the role

Exciting Career Opportunity: Full-Time Waking Night Residential Support Workers Our Childrens Home in Barnet.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for full-time Waking Night Residential Support Workers to join our dedicated team at our childrens home in Barnet. We are seeking compassionate resilient and experienced professionals to support young people aged 7 to 17 who have experienced significant emotional psychological and behavioural challenges rooted in early attachment trauma.

Our childrens home provides a specialist nurturing residential environment designed to offer targeted care and support for young people. The focus is on creating a safe stable living space where healing and growth can begin through consistent relationship-based care.

We work closely with families and foster carers to support each young persons journey toward returning to a family setting whether reunified with their birth family or placed with a carefully matched foster carer.


About you

As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety wellbeing and emotional stability of the young people during night-time hours. You will work collaboratively with sleep-in staff to ensure continuity of care respond to any incidents or needs that arise maintain detailed records and carry out light domestic duties including cleaning to uphold a homely and hygienic environment.

You will contribute to the development of a nurturing home grounded in holistic group-based principles. Our approach integrates elements of trauma informed practice with evidence-based attachment-informed and mentalisation-focused strategies. This framework supports the building of trusting relationships helping young people develop self-awareness emotional regulation and resilience.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing consistent empathetic night-time support to young people with complex needs

Supporting individual assessment and support plans through person-centred care

Assisting young people to access therapy medical appointments and community activities

Planning and facilitating social and recreational programmes that promote positive engagement

Working flexibly across weekends and nights often in a lone-working capacity in line with service requirements

The ideal candidate will:

Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Have proven experience supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs

Demonstrate resilience when managing challenging behaviours

Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships

Be empathetic patient and committed to nurturing the emotional and developmental needs of young people

Be flexible reliable and willing to work unsociable hours including nights weekends and bank holidays
