Position Highlights

Qualifications

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
  • BBCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req And
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course 12 Months Req And
  • ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course 12 Months Req Or
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support 90 Days Req
  • 1 Year Experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required
  • 2 Experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred

The Charge Nurse role will support and actively participate in shared governance/councils which is Texas Healths structure for decision making. This role directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift by offering staff guidance and support maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed. Individuals in this role will demonstrate:

  • A commitment to developing their individual knowledge and skills as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
  • Knowledge of quality management methods tools and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • An understanding of how to anticipate recognize and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual group or situation level; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Knowledge of successful approaches tools and techniques for dealing with changes and adapting to a changing environment; ability to adapt as needed
  • Demonstrate ahigh degree of confidentiality positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Maintain a positive customer-focused attitude toward patients
