Job Title Packaging Development Expert (ISU)

Job Location Chennai India

A Packaging Development expert designs develops and tests functional cost-effective and sustainable packaging solutions to protect products during transport storage and handling while ensuring compliance with regulations and aligning with marketing goals. This include selecting materials prototyping designs conducting feasibility studies collaborating with cross-functional teams like manufacturing and installation and implementing solutions to improve efficiency reduce waste and enhance the customer experience.

The person in this role is responsible for

• Acting as Packaging Owner to drive the change toward strategy targets in own area
• Creating new packaging solutions and drive continuous improvements for elevator and escalator delivery packaging for India and APM markets
• Acting as project manager and packaging expert to coordinate development activities for packaging
• Developing packaging related know-how in KONE
• Explore and implement eco-friendly packing solutions.
• Being member of KONE global packaging team and packaging network

Entry Level Requirements (Education)

• Bachelors or Masters degree studies with preferable major in Packaging Technology or other relevant engineering

Professional Requirements (Experience)

• Proven project management and coordination skills
• Hands-on attitude pragmatic and self-starting mindset
• Proactive results-oriented and efficient team player who is used to work with tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders and capability to sell ideas
• Work experience of industrial packaging development & design
• Knowledge of packaging manufacturing technology & packaging materials
• 15 years experience on relevant area
• Efficient user of Microsoft Office tools

Business Understanding (Specific Skills Knowledge & Behavior)

• You have a positive growth mind-set towards your work and people around
• You are not afraid of driving the change to make things more efficient
• Understanding of packaging markets and good knowledge of operators and suppliers in India
• Good knowledge of technical documentation and CAD/packaging design SW (preferably Creo & Windchill)
• Understanding and experience of product data management principles and tool
• Knowledge of elevators and escalators technology is an advantage

Languages

• Fluent English written and spoken

What will you be doing

Act as a Packaging Owner

• The driving force to make a change toward strategy targets
• Create material to sell new ideas and concepts
• Support KONEs supply chain members in India and APM in all topics related to packaging (including for example end customers front line organizations installation component/material suppliers R&D environmental team sourcing logistics distribution centers and external packaging designers)
• Analyse quality feedback and improvement requests related to packaging

Manage packaging development in R&D projects (new product introduction)

• Work to be done based on predefined change process and milestones
• Includes schedule management resource planning business case calculation design work documentation (drawings instructions and product data management system maintenance) testing & piloting collaboration with and communication to several internal (e.g. manufacturing logistics and installation) and external parties (e.g. product and packaging suppliers)

Run development projects for existing product packaging (Manage improvements and changes)

• Run packaging changes due to product design changes cost reduction improvements for packing process improvements for installation and quality.
• Work to be done based on predefined change process and milestones
• Includes schedule management resource planning business case calculation design work documentation (drawings instructions and product data management system maintenance) testing & piloting collaboration with and communication to several internal (e.g. manufacturing logistics and installation) and external parties (e.g. product and packaging suppliers)

Participate quarterly and yearly planning/budgeting

• Create and maintain roadmaps and action lists for APM
• Coordinate the activities based on the plan and do the follow up
• Report the status

Work together KONE procurement and Supplier quality engineers

• Support procurement for new packaging supplier onboarding
• Support Supplier quality engineers for new product supplier implementations and issues with suppliers packaging
