Cheese Laboratory Technician

10-hour shift rotating days off according to posted schedule

Location: Tulare-Paige

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

Perform daily activities in the Laboratory Department to ensure optimum efficiency and quality of plant operations. The technician is responsible for the accurate analysis of products and ingredients during all phases of production to ensure adherence to specifications for quality and Food Safety. At the direction of the Laboratory Manager responds to quality problems and pursues and implements remedies to such problems.

Job duties and abilities:

Performs various laboratory functions which may include but are not limited to moisture salt pH butterfat and microbiological analyses. Sends samples to outside or corporate lab for additional analysis. Informs production immediately of off-specification product. Verifies that all products meet specifications and quality standards. Reviews equipment for compliance with operating standards and informs management of variances noted. Responds to quality problems and pursues and implements remedies to such problems under the direction of the Laboratory Manager. Accurately and efficiently operates lab computer systems. Calibrates lab equipment on a daily basis. Has ability to handle multiple demands and shifting priorities. Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills. Adheres to established record keeping procedures and methods. Complies with all quality system and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates integrity in all business activities with internal and external customers. Demonstrates a consistent level of attention to detail Adheres to laboratory safety policies. Performs other duties as required.

Specific job selection criteria:

• AA Degree in chemistry Dairy Science or minimum three (3) years experience in a laboratory environment.
• Effective use of computer systems (i.e. MS Excel Word SAP).

Pay Range: $30.67 - $36.14
