Job/Department Summary:

The Confidential Administrative Support role performs duties under general supervision of the Vice President of Business and Finance (VPBF). Works independently to provide essential front-line executive administrative support to the VPBF . It is expected that incumbent will provide professional friendly assistance to a broad range of inquiries from both on-campus and off campus visitors handling complex confidential and sensitive issues. Serving as the primary contact point for the Vice President of Business and Finance incumbent works closely with the Business and Finance direct reports other Vice Presidents and their direct reports to staff Associate Vice Presidents the Office of the President as well as the CSU Chancellors addition serves as the primary point of contact for the Vice President with the Universitys internal stakeholders (faculty staff students and parents) as well as external stakeholders (government agencies universities and schools and community organizations and leaders). Performs work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature in direct support of the Vice President requiring regular access to information related to collective bargaining negotiations or management strategies investigations grievances and collaboration with the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC) provides information and guidance to VP regarding collective bargaining agreements and CSU policies procedures and practices. Essential duties require the incumbent to interpret and apply complex operating policies and procedures perform research prepare reports with recommended courses of action make in-depth analytical studies and inquiries which may have broad impact make recommendations for changes in policy or procedures and handle problems of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.

Required Education and Experience:

Must possess the experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments defined in this position. Requires the equivalent to a bachelors degree or professional training program.
AND
Three (3) years recent related experience in an office environment.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Candidates with executive support experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the university administration.
  • Experience in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
  • Experience in coordinating events/conferences and written communications.

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range: $56244 - $134676 per year.

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process are not subject to probationary service and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
