Skills & Competencies

• 7 years of experience designing and deploying scalable backend systems with a strong track record in metering telemetry or observability.
• Advanced proficiency in C C# or Java with deep expertise in Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development.
• 4 years of experience building cloud-native services on AWS Azure or GCP with a focus on distributed systems.
• Proven ability to debug and optimise complex systems especially in high-throughput low-latency environments.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with a history of influencing architectural decisions across teams and mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures streaming data pipelines and usage-based billing systems.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and a strong interest in applying responsible AI practices to improve engineering workflows and product capabilities.
• Experience with time-series data modelling Kafka Databricks Microsoft Fabric and building dashboards and alerts for observability.

Education

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field.
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable metering systems that power usage-based billing product analytics and operational visibility across Moodys SaaS platforms.
• Lead the development of cloud-native telemetry pipelines ensuring reliability performance and extensibility.
• Write high-quality maintainable code that processes real-time telemetry and time-series data.
• Partner with Product Data Science and Platform Engineering to deliver integrated solutions that drive business outcomes.
• Set technical direction for the team mentor junior engineers and champion best practices in system design observability and DevOps.
• Own the full lifecycle of metering systemsfrom instrumentation and testing to deployment monitoring and production support.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement contributing to both internal platform evolution and customer-facing value

About the Team

The Platform Engineering group builds the foundation for all of Moodys Analytics. The Metering team focuses on large-scale usage tracking systems that enable accurate billing actionable product analytics and real-time operational insights.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $140200 - $218500 depending on factors such as experience education level skills and location. This range is based on a full-time addition to base salary this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
