POSITION LOCATION:

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Skills Instructor (aka Skills Guide) in conjunction with ECE faculty provide ECE pre-service teacher students enrolled in a certificate or degree plan of study with advisement coaching and assessment of teaching skill to students working with young children in a hands-on experience in an Early Childhood (EC) classroom setting.
They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction student assessment and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face hybrid and online. Classes may be held days evenings and weekends.
The ECE Skills Instructor must be patient and respectful while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program. This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace. This position shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion expressing the valuing of differences and regularly demonstrating the colleges commitment to the Guiding Principles.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Broad knowledge of early childhood education including child development guidance practices and teaching practices and successful handling of day-to-day classroom routines in the classroom setting
- Broad knowledge of the Colorado General rules and Regulations for Childcare the CDEC Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals and the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must hold current CDEC EC Director Qualification letter AND equivalent PDIS Credential Level Ill
- Must be eligible for initial Post-secondary CTE credential
- 3 plus years working experience in early childhood classroom settings with multiple age groups (infants/toddlers preschool and/or school-aged children)
- A demonstrated commitment to the MCC community and MCC Guiding Principles of integrity respect open and honest communication and collaboration. Ability to travel throughout MCCs service area as necessary to carry out job duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate bachelors or masters degree in ECE or Child Development form an accredited institution.
- Recent training to be eligible for an initial coaching credential or currently holds a coaching credential with the POIS system.
- Five years working experience in early childhood classroom settings with multiple age groups (infants/toddlers preschool and/or school-aged children)
PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE DEMANDS:

- Occasionally moves positions and transports files and office materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- This is not a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones copiers etc.

- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Salary and Benefits:
$38.30 - $76.60 hourly commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
