Facilitator for PRISM III Grant Grades 4-5 PRISM III Curriculum Council ILP Team
Description: The Facilitators for the PRISM III Grant Grades 4-5 Curriculum Council ILP Team will schedule monthly meetings for the team members. The council will meet on one Monday per month from 3:15 to 5:15. The team will meet with the K-8 Director of ELA to create the scope and sequence for this work and then will have asynchronous time to complete it. Team members will report to Louise DeSisto K-8 Director of ELA/Literacy regarding this offering. Topics that will be covered include:
The topics covered will support effective literacy instruction data-informed decisions and student growth and will include:
1. Standards and Curriculum Alignment
- Deep dive into Common Core ELA standards
- Pacing guides and unit planning.
- Ensuring rigor and grade-level expectations.
2. Reading Instruction
- Building comprehension: main idea inference summarizing etc.
- Developing vocabulary in context.
3. Writing Instruction
- Writing across genres: narrative opinion/argumentative informative/explanatory.
- Writing process: using the 5 Step Process.
- Rubrics and feedback strategies.
4. Assessment and Data Use
- Analyzing formative and summative assessment data (e.g. running records benchmarks).
- Using data to differentiate instruction.
- Monitoring student progress in reading levels and writing proficiency.
- Intervention and Differentiation
- Identifying and supporting struggling readers and writers.
- Strategies for English Learners (ELs) and students with IEPs.
- Small-group instruction models and flexible grouping.
- Enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.
Working Time/Modality: Up to 100 Hours ($4000) between October 2025 and June 2026 which will include attendance at the following sessions:
- Monday October 20
- Monday November 10
- Monday December 8
- Monday January 12
- Monday February 9
- Monday March 9
- Monday April 13
- Monday May 11
- Monday June 8
Additionally asynchronous work will be required to plan meetings..
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the CKLA Grades 4-5 Curriculum
- Experience with leading professional development on the implementation of CKLA with teachers
Preferred qualifications:
- Current assignment as an Instructional or ELL Coach that works directly with grades 4 and 5 on the implementation of CKLA.
- Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
- Student-centered approach to literacy instruction with high expectations for student achievement.
Compensation: up to 100 hours or a total of $4000 per person (based on the number of coaches). Stipend paid as one sum at the end of the completed professional development.
