Job Summary
education counselor guides students in making academic career and personal choices by providing counseling assessments and resources to help them achieve their full potential. Key duties include individual and group counseling academic scheduling course selection and career path guidance along with assisting with admissions processes and college applications. Essential skills for this role are strong communication empathy and analytical abilities along with a relevant degree in education psychology or counseling.
Core Responsibilities
Student Counseling: Provide one-on-one and group counseling on academic personal and social matters to help students set and achieve goals.
Academic Guidance: Advise on course selection academic scheduling and developing strategies for academic success including study habits and time management.
Career Planning: Help students identify their interests and strengths research career options and plan potential professional pathways.
College & Admissions Support: Assist students in preparing for college admissions writing applications and essays and understanding financial aid opportunities.
Skill Development: Help students develop both hard and soft skills such as writing math critical thinking and coping mechanisms for stress.
Collaboration: Work with teachers parents and educational institutions to support students overall well-being and academic progress.
Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct assessments to understand students abilities and interests and monitor their progress adjusting plans as needed.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Education: A Bachelors degree in Education Psychology Counseling or a related field is typically required.
Skills:
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students and other stakeholders.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to build rapport show empathy and understand students needs.
Analytical Skills: To evaluate students interests skills and potential career paths.
Patience & Empathy: To support students through various challenges and guide them towards their goals.
Developing a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children. Employing a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children. Observing each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
