A Brief OverviewThe Director of Portfolio Planning and Alignment is a highly strategic and results-driven leadership role that oversees the portfolio planning project intake & prioritization demand management and technology and innovation functions of the Organizational Excellence Department. This role involves building maintaining and continuously improving the departments capability to support the overall strategy of Avera through these core functions. The Director will oversee and develop leaders and teams of project management professionals portfolio managers program managers and intake specialists while collaborating with cross-functional leaders at all levels to ensure the successful alignment of portfolio management support across the organization.
What you will do
- Develop promote and maintain standard processes for program and portfolio management project intake and prioritization processes.
- Manage the stability optimization and growth of the Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) tool.
- Assess portfolio planning support needs and team capacity ensuring optimal assignment and alignment with organizational goals.
- Improve and manage the operational integrity of project intake prioritization and demand management functions.
- Ensure adherence to established portfolio and program delivery standards across the Organizational Excellence department.
- Plan and manage team resources and budgets effectively.
- Maintain reporting standards and meet departmental KPIs.
- Cultivate a high-performance team culture focused on innovation accountability and continuous professional growth.
- Create and deliver executive-level presentations reports and updates to senior management and the board.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Bachelors Healthcare Business Administration Health Sciences or related field and/or 10 years equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) - Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent. Upon Hire
- 10 years related experience and/or training.
- 1-3 years leadership experience.
Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Masters
- IASSC Certified Green Belt - The International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) Upon Hire
- IASSC Certified Black Belt - The International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) Upon Hire
