Position Summary

As an integral member of the Medical Advancement Strategic Engagement team the Director of Engagement will work closely with the Strategic Engagement team and gift officers to establish a donor-centric program that demonstrates impact and recognizes and celebrates the philanthropic commitments of to the School of Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center through printed and digital communications and events.

The successful applicant for this role will be an exceptional project manager and creative thinker with a passion for providing tailored first-class experiences for constituents through innovative communications collaboration and programming.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with the Strategic Engagement team major gift officers relationship management team faculty and departments set the overall strategy for donor relations and stewardship for medical donors to deepen relationships with donors and prospects through recognition stewardship and engagement activities to highlight how donors philanthropic support impacts Wash U Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center at various levels. Help achieve major gift solicitation closure and dollar goals as an integral partner to gift officers through cultivation as stewardship.
  • In partnership and close collaboration with Med Advancement leadership and the Director of Engagement Operations assist identified faculty chairs and respective leaders in developing and executing a comprehensive stewardship and donor engagement plans tailored to the needs of those departments.
  • Working in conjunction with the Strategic Engagement teams Director of Engagement for Operations proactively initiate the development of tailored donor impact plans to highlight the impact of donors and consider how to repurpose stewardship pieces for annual fund will be responsible for writing impact reports in collaboration with the medical advancement operations team.
  • Maintain a comprehensive donor recognition matrix which outlines appropriate recognition across all levels of giving to ensure consistency and ensure lead donors are thanked appropriately for their gifts.
  • Undertake other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Ability to understand and articulate how donor relations supports and advances the broader fundraising agenda.
  • Experience within a complex university academic research medical center national non-profit organization or organization with sub-units and complex reporting relationships.

This position is located in St. Louis MO and the targeted hiring range for this position is $75200 - $95000.

Salary Range

$75200.00 - $128800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including ones qualifications and performance equity with others in the department market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
