Position Overview:

Freddie Mac is seeking aSenior Technical Leadto drive the transformation of its Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure. This role will lead the design and implementation of a resilient scalable and cloud-connected WAN architecture. The position is critical to ensuring high availability fault tolerance and operational continuity across the enterprise.

By modernizing the WAN we are enhancing the organizations ability to securely connect across cloud edge and core environments while ensuring compliance performance and resiliency. This transformation supports strategic initiatives across infrastructure security and cloud platforms directly impacting business continuity and scalability.

Your Impact:

As the Senior Technical Lead you will:

  • Architect and implement a future-ready WAN infrastructure.

  • Engineer resiliency strategies including redundancy failover and disaster recovery.

  • Assist in managing carrier relationships and evaluating transport technologies.

  • Lead capacity planning and support budgetary forecasting for WAN services.

  • Collaborate across teams to align network strategy with enterprise goals.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Your leadership will ensure the WAN evolves to meet future demands while maintaining compliance and operational integrity.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in network engineering with a focus on WAN modernization.

  • Expertise in MPLS colocation strategies cloud connectivity and optical/fiber transport.

  • Strong background in resiliency engineering capacity planning and disaster recovery.

  • Experience with network tools evaluation and vendor collaboration.

  • Familiarity with risk and compliance frameworks related to data and network security.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills across technical and executive teams.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $161000 - $241000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position experience skill set internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
