The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our web portal and mobile engineering this pivotal role you will be responsible for the development reliability and performance of our web portal and mobile applications which are the primary interface for our customers. You will blend hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership abilities fostering a culture of continuous improvement innovation and user-centric design. What Youll Do

• Lead and Mentor: Lead and grow a team of talented full stack engineers. Youll foster a collaborative high-performing environment by providing regular feedback supporting career development and conducting performance reviews.
• Set Strategy: Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for our web portal and mobile applications ensuring your teams work aligns with core business objectives and product initiatives.
• Manage Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day team activities including the triaging of incoming tickets and strategic resource planning to ensure efficient project execution.
• Guide Technical Direction: Act as a technical leader and subject matter expert guiding your team through complex technical challenges. You will provide strategic direction on web and mobile technologies particularly React React Native and Typescript.
• Drive Engineering Excellence: You will be responsible for driving the adoption of best practices for building exceptional user experiences. This includes ensuring applications are high-quality performant and accessible across all devices.
• Ensure Operational Health: Oversee the establishment and maintenance of robust monitoring alerting and logging systems to ensure the health and performance of our applications. Youll define and track key operational metrics and SLAs.
• Optimize Performance: You will be responsible for leading the teams efforts in application performance optimization including improvements to client-side rendering API calls and asset loading.
• Oversee Security and Compliance: Partner with your team to ensure adherence to security best practices and organizational policies within all front-end applications protecting user data and maintaining compliance.
• Foster Collaboration: Facilitate close collaboration with product management UX/UI design and back-end engineering teams to ensure the seamless development deployment and scalability of applications.
• Inspire Innovation: Cultivate a culture of innovation identifying opportunities for your team to research and implement new technologies that enhance the user experience and drive business value.

What were looking for

• 10 years of experience in web or mobile application development.
• 4 years of experience in an engineering management role.
• Deep Technical Expertise: You have deep hands-on expertise with React and React Native along with extensive experience with Typescript and proficiency in GraphQL. This expertise enables you to guide and mentor a team in designing implementing and managing complex front-end applications.
• Deep understanding and practical experience with modern software development principles and methodologies. Strong advocate for automation CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. Github Actions Bitbucket Pipelines) and their application in front-end deployments.
• Experience with front-end error tracking and performance monitoring tools is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of mobile app deployment processes.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to lead motivate and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
