Reporting to the Director HSE the role of the Field Manager HSE is to lead and implement the health and safety standards and program in the Toronto/Vaughan Region. The Field Manager HSE provides leadership and guidance to Operations in the execution of the health and safety program in the field. Coaches and mentors field HSE Specialists as required to support operational safety needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Operations and Site Management to ensure initiatives are properly aligned and executed throughout the sites to meet or exceed site-specific safety goals.
- First point of contact for our customers on all health and safety issues arising out of field operations.
- Ensure the customer requirements on contracts and projects are being met and eliminate gaps as required.
- Conduct frequent reviews of established health and safety procedures to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance on site
- Oversee the auditing of sites for compliance with Health & Safety programs and process
- Review the analysis of injury data identifying the needs for new or modified safety programs. Implement leading indicators to predict and prevent injuries.
- Continuously engage the workforce to ensure needs and compliance are met; promote safe behaviors and a positive safety culture
- Provide continuous support and guidance with Operations to maintain a safe work environment that is consistent with the companys policies and provincial regulations.
- Oversee the completion of special information requests from regulatory agencies and representing the corporation in meetings with regulatory agencies
- Evaluate employee safety behavior and performance to ensure training programs are effective
- Provide guidance on matters related to compliance with health and safety regulations
- Participate in safety reviews/audits of projects new facilities equipment or processes in conjunction with Engineering and Operations personnel
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environment Science or similar related work experience. Relevant certifications such as CRSP OHSC CSC or CSP would also be considered an asset
- 7 years experience working in the construction industry in HSE would be a strong asset
- Proven track record of being a leader / managing HSE teams or programs
- Comprehensive understanding of industry specific safety regulations and standards; as well as in-depth local regional and national HSE regulation compliance requirements
- Experience with safety audits inspections and risk management
- Proficiency in HSE management software
- Experience developing and delivering HSE training programs
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong leadership capabilities with high ethical standards
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Ability to facilitate programs and present to groups
- Must be able to successfully clear a Criminal Background check
- Travel to various sites across Toronto area is required occasional out of province travel may be necessary for training and leadership meetings.
