The opportunity

The position is specifically for Wealth & Asset Management sector. Were looking for an incumbent who has extensive knowledge of the wealth and asset management business drivers and financial sector. He should competent enough to provide advisory services including finance optimization system implementation financial statement close process support regulatory and statutory reporting advanced data readiness & analytics audit and control support. The incumbent will work for top global clients across a wide variety of markets and industry sectors thus experience of working with clients in either the financial services or more specifically WAM sector is preferred.

As part of our EY GDS Assurance Team the individual will be responsible for working closely with FAAS Assistant Managers and Senior Managers on client engagements across Americas EMEIA or APAC.

Your key responsibilities

• Be a coach / mentor to a team of Seniors and Staffs and train them to deliver high Quality industry specific work on time and within the time estimates made and agreed with the US engagement teams / key stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key EY industry leaders and contacts to grow GDS business.
• Establishing expectations of value to be delivered on the engagements worked on from GDS.
• Building fund accounting knowledge and capabilities within the GDS teams.
• Contribute to technical/functional and soft-skills training to continually develop the teams skills on industry specific areas of work.
• Be a performance manager to guide and coach GDS professionals on career advancement and provide continuous feedback throughout the performance year on their development areas.
• Actively participate and lead overall performance development and feedback process at team level and at overall GDS level.
• Ensure quality of service delivery
• Follow through on client requests in a timely fashion and manage expectations regarding the timing of deliverables and reports
• Identify engagement and client service issues.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g. guidelines of the EY FAAS Policy Manual); and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations
• Receive direction from the Senior Manager and Partner
• Co-ordinating activities between small teams on projects to deliver tasks including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members
• Running practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership pieces running industry events delivering training or managing team communications
• Aiding proposals and bid teams in delivery of high-quality proposals
• Developing strong internal and external networks for long term relationships managing EY accounts and to bring all EY to clients
• Driving innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and being a leader in this area by implementing new and improved ways of working delivery models and / or technological advancements
• Establishing and managing effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles
• Contributing to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new / existing clients
• Contributing to the growth of the practice by providing input to EY Point of views development of solutions engagement tools and enablers
• Contributing to the development of your own and the teams technical skills by establishing a culture of highest performing teams inclusive behaviours and emotional intelligence

Skills and attributes for success

• Sound understanding of US GAAP/UK GAAP/ IFRS
• Previous Wealth and Assets Management experience / knowledge essential especially Private equity and Real estate.
• Prior team and people management skills and ability to handle stakeholder relationships are essential.
• Able to apply logic and problem solving to complex Finance business problems
• Take personal responsibility for the quality of delivery
• Instil a positive team mentality even when under pressure by treating their colleagues well and creating an inclusive culture
• Extremely comfortable and confident around senior stakeholders internally and externally
• Extremely comfortable with Excel and PowerPoint. Much of our work involves detailed analysis and report writing so it is critical you can work with these tools
• Strong written and verbal communication presentation and technical writing skills
• Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues including regulations industry practices and new technologies
• Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice as necessary

Professional experience:

Typical experience may include whilst not limited to:

• Strong working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting for real estate funds private equity funds and other alternative investment vehicles.
• Hands-on experience in fund accounting and the preparation of financial reports for alternative investment structures including real estate and private equity.
• Understanding of complex fund structures such as Master-Feeder Fund of Funds and Blocker Entities as well as familiarity with various investment products including equities and derivatives and their associated accounting treatments.
• Proficiency in fund administration platforms such as Investran Yardi eFront or similar systems.
• Exposure to operational processes such as NAV finalization reconciliations management and investor reporting capital account maintenance and P&L allocations.
• Experience in preparing complete sets of financial statements including - Statement of Assets Liabilities and Partners Capital Statement of Operations Statement of Changes in Partners Capital Statement of Cash Flows Schedule of Investments Notes to Financial Statements with all required disclosures.
• In-depth understanding of fund accounting principles investment fund structures the lifecycle of real estate and private equity funds various fee structures calculation of management fees and performance fees including carried interest preferred return and clawback provisions.
• Knowledge in areas such as finance function optimization ERP/system implementations financial close processes statutory and regulatory reporting consolidation reporting data readiness and analytics and governance risk and control frameworks.
• Proven hands-on experience at a Big 4 or top-tier consulting firm within Financial Services or in leading transformation initiatives or line functions within fund managers fund administrators or other financial services organizations.

To qualify for the role you must have

• Chartered Accountant (CA) CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
• 6-9 years (post qualification) in Big 4s/ fund houses/ leading audit firms
