Job Summary

The Village of Carol Streams Public Works Department seeks a qualified and motivated individual to serve under the direction of the Utilities Supervisor as the lead operator in the function and maintenance of the Villages potable water system. Position performs manual and skilled work in the operation cleaning construction repair and maintenance of the water pumping storage distribution and treatment systems (including SCADA) as well as several storm and sanitary sewer lift stations in accordance with local and federal regulatory standards.

Duties include maintaining the proper operating condition of mechanical equipment pumping pressure water flow proper treatment standards and records as well as oversight of contractors working on the same equipment. Selected candidate must be capable of detecting health and safety hazards performing thorough inspections and necessary repairs of equipment as well as ability and willingness to respond to calls outside of the regular workday. The ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees and the public is essential.

Qualified individuals must possess the following:

High School Degree or Equivalent
A valid Illinois Class B CDL License with air brakes and ability to obtain tanker endorsement within 6 months.
Minimum three years of experience in water system operations supplemented by additional education in related subjects.
Certification as a Class D Illinois Water Supply Operator as well as a Class C in Training designation.
Experience with the operation of various electrical and mechanical devices pertinent to the operation of a water and sewer system.

Starting salary for this position is $66671 firm. Excellent benefit package provided including health (80% employer paid) dental and life insurance as well as IMRF pension system.
