This position is available for current Somerville High School Students Only.

Job Summary: The Somerville Robotics League for Middle Grades provides students who are in grades 5-8 with opporuntities to explore beginner and intermediate topics in robotics while having fun. These experiences are designed to prepare students for high school courses and additional Out-of-School Time opportunities.

High School RoboticsYouthMentors are an essential part of the Somerville Robotics League. Youth Mentors co-design and implement programming and activitiesassist the adult staff in administartive tasks and develop skills to facilitatetopics in robotics with younger students.

Requirement: Current Somerville High School Student

Expectations:

In addition to providing instructional supportRobotics YouthMentorswill:

  • Serve as role models for younger students
  • Provide feedback to students on projects androbotics/designwork
  • Collaborate daily with lead and assistantadultstaff to planactivities and lessons
  • Lead activities and teachrobotics concepts to small and large groups of students

Terms of Employment:

  • Part Time / Yearly Appointment
  • September 29 2025 - December 13 2025
  • 28Total work hours
  • $18.82 per hour worked
  • Most Youth Mentors will work 2 hours per week. During the final week students will work 8 hours which includes the regular meeting time and the final event.

Total Season Hours: 20 hours

Mondays @ school sites 3:00pm - 4:30pm (1.5 hours)

Planning/Debrief @ school sites or asychronous 4:30 - 5:00pm or TBD (0.5 hours)

Total hours per week: 2

Total Finale Hours: 6 hours

Saturday December 13 10:00am - 4:00pm (6 hours: 2 hours prep 3 hour event 1 hour clean up)

Flex Hours: 2 hours
