DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our Energy & Utilities Power Projects team.
Reporting to the National Commissioning Manager you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of critical power infrastructure projects.
In this role you will work alongside experienced Lead Commissioners providing support across commissioning documentation scheduling materials and equipment management contractor engagement and client liaison. You will also contribute to commissioning planning testing activities and project reporting ensuring projects are delivered safely efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a background in power systems substations or commissioning environments to broaden their experience and contribute to complex large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Lead Commissioners in the preparation of inspection and test records commissioning plans and sequencing.
- Assist with procurement activities including raising purchase orders processing invoices and tracking materials and equipment.
- Coordinate contractors and provide onsite support to ensure quality safety cost and time objectives are achieved.
- Ensure testing procedures are followed protection settings and configuration files are maintained and drawings are up to date.
- Provide project data documentation and reports to Commissioning and Project Managers.
- Liaise with clients subcontractors suppliers and stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement lessons learned and safety/environmental initiatives.
- Mentor and support new employees while actively contributing to your own professional development.
About You
- Diploma in Power Systems or a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering focus preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years engineering experience in the power industry.
- Prior experience in substations protection testing or secondary electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of OH&S Quality Management and Environmental compliance.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel essential); experience with MS Project or similar is an advantage.
- Proven ability to work independently prioritise tasks and perform under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of primary and secondary testing of substation and transmission equipment.
- Understanding of secondary electrical design and risk management.
- Familiarity with AS/NZ/ISO standards and HV industry codes of practice (Green Book Blue Book or similar).
