PathPoint is excited to welcome full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Integrated Work program team in San Luis Obispo CA. This is an employment training program that provides skills development and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a mix of work/volunteer sites in-person classes and virtual meetings. As a DSP you will lead both virtual and in-person groups at outdoor worksites. This is truly a job where no two days are the same and you will make a difference every single day.

About PathPoint: PathPoint is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people flourish. We partner with children adults and families to foster hope build life skills access support systems and form meaningful relationships. We serve communities across Kern Los Angeles San Luis Obispo Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm 30-40 hours per week.

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt position starting at $21.75 per hour. The pay range for this position is $20.66-$22.84. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors.

What Youll Do:

  • Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives including communication skills mobility money management housing and public transportation.
  • Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.
  • Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering.
  • Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits communication skills and social skills.
  • Prepare weekly schedules monthly training projections and written progress reports.

What Were Looking For:

  • Patience compassion and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities their family members and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities either professionally or personally is desirable but not required. If you are interested in this opportunity but do not have directly relevant experience wed still love to hear from you!
  • Must have a valid California drivers license with a satisfactory driving record 5 years of driving experience and be eligible for coverage on PathPoints auto insurance policy.
  • Culturally aware acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds possesses skills to collaborate across cultures and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
