Job Summary

Aurizon is offering an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in rail through our Operational Maintainer (Rail Shunter) Traineeship in our Avon depot (Northam WA).

As a trainee youll be part of a structured program where youll gain practical hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification in rail operations (shunting). Youll work alongside experienced team members in a fast-paced environment developing the skills needed to build a long-term career with Australias largest rail freight operator.

About the role:

Control the movement of trains and carry out relevant instructions always maintaining safety
Inspect for faults repair service and maintain rollingstock
Support maintenance of locomotives ancillary vehicles machines and equipment
Conduct brake testing of trains
Effectively communicate with other depot personnel as well as clients and operational staff including train control face to face and via two-way radio
Undertake shunting and marshalling of trains
Other duties as requested

About you:

C Class Drivers Licence (mandatory)
Strong commitment to safety
Mechanical aptitude
Strong problem solving and communication skills
A willingness to workday & night shift (up to 12hr shifts) and including weekend work as required

Please note that all applicants will be required to undergo psychometric testing a drug and alcohol test and carry out a criminal history check!
